We are Setter.

Our story

The story starts with David working 10 years in one of Toronto’s top restaurants, learning how important customer service and attention to detail is. Then started custom homes business. And people started calling him after buying their house for recommendations on pros and expert advice. That’s when the idea for Setter was born.

But getting to where Setter is today was all but straightforward. David’s journey is filled with failures: Flooded $5 million house 2 weeks before it was supposed to be sold. Spent $100.000 on developing an app no one would use.

But these failures led to Setter. To what Setter aspires to be every day. Instead of an app, we started with a phone and a big Excel spreadsheet. We focused on delivering excellent customer service. In fact, the best customer experiences often came from where something went wrong but we went above and beyond to make things right. Only once we had the first 100 customers we started building an app and all the backend technology. Today, technology is the underlying backbone of delivering excellent service to thousands of customers. But we are not there yet, we have just started on our mission to make home maintenance invisible.

Just our first step on an exciting journey to build cities of the future. We believe that ten years from now a service like Setter will be part of buying a house, just like you take the Internet for granted.
